In the eyes of history, Jayne Mansfield was a poor man’s Marilyn Monroe. Even in her heyday she was repeatedly typecast as the ditzy blonde when, in reality, she was a talented actress with an incredibly high IQ, who spoke five languages and played the violin. ‘The Girl Can’t Help It’ was her first movie in a starring role. It rules and the soundtrack is ridiculous (Lennon cited it as an influence), as are Mansfield’s curves (2:51 oh my). If you can find it on DVD or on a torrent or however you crazy kids watch movies nowadays, I highly recommend it.
